    Hi Everyone,

It has been suggested by a member that we should post a topic explaining the change in depth.

    What changed?

We have merged the Members Meetings section with the Groups Section. Along with this, we have added some new features to the groups section to allow the same features as previously available in Members Meetings. We have also moved all the previous meetings, attendees, comments and photos into the a group and created an event for that meeting.

    Why the change?

We found that Members Meetings and Groups have much of the similar features. We also noticed that many people were starting to use the Groups section for scheduled members meets rather than the Members Meetings area. We don't want to create more clutter than what is needed or have extra areas that aren't necessary. So, we decided that the best way forward was to merge the 2 areas together and place them both in the Groups area. This allowed us to add a few new features to the groups section that had been requested as well as have a single collected area for scheduled events and meets. It also allowed us to deliver these features quicker as much of the platform was already built.

    Some Things to Note

    1. In order to link a photo to an event, you will need to be marked as an attendee. This works the same way it did previously.
    2. We have some really exciting plans in the next phase of ePHOTOzine in regards to managing the usage of your photos on the site. For that reason, you may find that some features that are available in the gallery on a photo, are not available when viewing the copy of the photo in the event.
    3. You may find it useful to create a group which scheduled many events. Its up to you how you use the events feature.
    4. In some cases, where there is a one off event, you could either choose to place it in an exisiting group which might be related to your event or create a new group. It's up to you Smile.
    5. All previous members meetings can be found by browsing groups with the 'members meetings' tag.

If you have any questions or suggestions about the change or need some help. Let us know!

    Thanks,
    David

It would be really helpful for what used to be called "members' meet", now an "Event" if you could bring the location map back A.S.A.P. Wink

Is the option there for new events as the map has disappeared on those that have happened.

It may not be obvious, but the map IS quite useful so people know where to go ! !

Quote: are available when viewing the copy of the photo in the event.

should that be "not available" ?

I really do not like the fact that now the members' meets have been incorporated into Group Events that ALL previous comments on image uploads have been lost Sad Sad

Even the comments from the recent Hastings meet of only last Sunday have been lost.

I cannot look back to say, last year and see what "xyz" said on my "abc" upload.
Some of the comments are quite constructive and useful to refer back to refresh one's memory from time to time Smile

Is it worthwhile continuing supporting members' meets and contributing if epz decide to just change the features and lose an important element of them ?

What does everyone else who has attended an epz members' meet feel about this ?

A positive comment this morning Smile

Like the new page layout of what used to be members' meet with the images laid out in a grid along the bottom of the page ( similar to the gallery ) with the latest one top left.

Much better than the "old" way whereby if there were more than 12 images you had to click the link to show them all, especially with the most recent being the last one and thereby hidden

Nice improvement is this one Smile

    Sarah,
If going via the members' meet route you may notice that voting has been disabled and ALL previous comments prior to yesterday's upgrade have been lost Sad
They are still there with the votes if going via the Gallery route ! !
