We fixed the feature where you can see who's online today. It proves interesting viewing - accessed from the Forum menu...here. Despite a few still not happy with site speed, it seems the numbers of regulars is still growing. Last month was a record for unique visitors too with 369,000 - that's about 20% growth on the figure we still quote to the trade.
but..................are members really bothered anyway as to who's online?
I have to say that generally the new look/design and teething problems are improving...slowly but surely
Well I was asking because the script needs to update, if it was every few seconds it would slow the server down considerably when there is a lot of users on-line, that's why there are options to set the refresh rate I just wondered what it was, if you don't know I'm sure some knowledgeable person here does I hope?
Yes that was the problem and why we removed it, because it did slow down when we first brought it back. Ben's come up with a way to make it work even down to refresh every minute without a loss in speed, but we think 5 mins (which it's set to now) is safer.
Not at all that important but a couple of points.
1) Members Online can be found from the FORUMS Tab not the Photos Tab
2) Just out of interest... Is the Record Number of Visitors : since version 1, Version 4, this month, this week ?
