Is it safe to use a Metz 45cl-4 flash on a canon 7D

If this is the model you are looking at, The specs would suggest its OK, The word " Digital " is the give away....
Otherwise check with the manufacturer for a truly safe answer.....

Have to reinforce this good advice 100%
Normally, a 'trigger voltage' of anything up to 6v is safe for use on a digital camera. Above that figure then I would suggest that it is vital that you contact the gun vendor to have then state (in writing ) what their products 'trigger voltage' is. There is a document 'out there in the cloud' which is very useful as a guide. That said, there remains the use of a Wein adaptor which will protect the camera.
