    Hi Everyone.

Going to Luxor----------( the fleshpots, not!)

Want to bring a tripod to carry around-- to shoot low down in the desert etc or just to set it up along the banksof the Nile--------- something like the gorillapod-- do they work for a 7d with 70-300mm lens?

    Do they work?

    Many Thanks

    Rory

Might be worth looking at the Cullmann 200T which is a "proper" tripod but smaller. I've got one and it fits in my camera bag nicely and is stable in use and only the addition of a QR plate would improve it.

I have a Manfrotto 209 mini tripod, with a 484RC2 ball head with QR plate. I have used this frequently with a Nikkor 80-400mm with stability control switched off, and have not lost any sharpness. It is a good solid piece of kit, which is less than 9"long folded.

I've got a Giottos Vitruvian carbon tripod. Great build, super light and with strong ball head.

Also one of the legs is detachable and converts into a great monopod.
