Well, I've finally bitten the bullet & splashed out on a digital camera. Now an owner of a Canon 20D (don't know if I'm a proud owner or not).
I feel slightly sad that I have made the decision to "go Digital" but I have retained some film equipment (I 've got use the 43 rolls of Velvia I have in the freezer) so if I get withdrawal symptoms I can always return to film for a while. I also feel that there may be some types of shots that may benefit fom film rather digital, but I don't know what they are yet!!!
No doubt I shall be asking questions over the next few weeks as I get used to this rather complex bit of gear.
My decision to try digital has been influenced by the need of some people to have everything yesterday. Waiting 3 or 4 days for me to process & scan seems too long for some people.
We do seem to be in a world of instant gratification now where waiting for something that is probably better quality is a no no. Not just photography but all walks of life.
Get off your soapbox Stomp. Sorry, got to be optimistic. Going to take the dog for a walk now, in the snow (yes snow in Dorset, in MARCH!!!)and get a few shots with the new camera.
Stomp
Steve, enjoy your new camera. My guess is, in a few months time you'll look back and wonder why you ever doubted that you should go digital. Best of luck with that instruction manual!
Regards,
Sam
The trouble with all manual writers is that they know what they mean but you may not. We've had this problem for years. You need an expert to write the manual but it always needs to be checked by a complete duffer, if they can make sense of it then it's OK, if they can't then it needs re-writing.
