I recently sent off my Elinchrom 400fx to have a new flash tube fitted, the company called to say that it was ready for dispatch and I paid the repair costs and awaited delivery via city link. It soon became apparent that the flash head had gone missing and now I am left a week or so on with no flash and the company offering me replacement second hand head in the form of a D lite 4. Does anyone out there have experience of the D lite 4? Is it on a par with the 400fx I used to have? I own d lite 2s and they are no where near as well made and feel flimsy in comparison, I know that the 400 fx is no longer made but it was well made and built to last, does a D lite 4 sound like a air replacement? Thanks.
What are CityLink saying?? - have they lost it?...I'd be surprised if they had. Surely you have a tracking number to work with?
Have had this in the past with parcels going "lost" and turning up in local sorting offices/depots - we even found a lost parcel in our recycling bin one day - the guy had left it there but hadn't posted the card through the door to tell us...

No, Is the simple answer, The D-lite 4 later models with cooling fans fitted are OK, But they are a fairly lightweight unit really designed for portability.
If the company is offering you a pair of D-lite4s, That might be tempting......![]()
However a single DL4 in exchange for a missing 400fx, I really don't think so.....!!!
They are trying it on, They will have to match the unit they lost with something of a similar stature model wise, Hell it should be covered by " Insurance " at the very least.....!!!
So give them hell and demand a head built to the same spec, Or threaten some legal action.....They are responsible or at least " City Link " is, That said this courier has been getting a bad name lately, Seems they make a habit of loosing stuff, Including accounts with many e traders.
Good luck.
