Hi all, I've just found an envelope with loads of 36mm negs in and as I've been copying some of my slides recently (ongoing project Smile) I wondered if it possible to process negs using either lightroom 3 or elements 9... the room is in a state of turmoil at the moment whilst I sort stuff out ... thats how I found the negs !

    Any help much appreciated

    Nick

If you are scanning then it is preferable to save them as a DNG as this format is treated as a RAW, but if not Lightroom can certainly process tiff / jpg formats..... I assume Elements can as well, being another Adobe product.

Yous scanning software should have an option for scanning negatives so that the scanned file appears as a positive.

Save that file in any format recognised by Lightroom and Elements and Bob's your Uncle.

you could simply scan them as a slide as you have been doing and invert the colours on them!

Don't have any scanning software, just an adapter that fits no my Nikon P5100. I did look in Lightroom but couldn't see an invert anywhere, hence the question. And it only does JPEG I think Grin

Thanks for the help so far... I'll take anther look

picassa has an invert colour function so I am certain that lightroom has one

After a quick search it looks like the tone curve may be reversed to have this effect.

I just converted a colour image and it now appears negative - you need to switch to a linear tone curve and make it slope downwards from left to right.
