What about the useless crettins, who spent over ten million pounds of our (taxpayer's) money, on the Rednapp/Mandaric case.
It will be that amount when their legal fees are added to the initial cost of getting it to court.
Surely with in real terms , a reasonable small amount of money involved , why don't HMRC have the power to demand payment of the alleged unpaid tax and also inflict a fine, without it ever going to court.
Anyone who thought that they might be found guilty, would willingly pay up, I am sure.
That isn't saying that Rednapp/Mandaric were in the least bit guilty.
No winners in this case, only losers
Me and you and the rest of the country's taxpayers, which include Rednapp/Mandaric

I heard today that the judge at Ken Dodds trial stated that a comedian would never make an accountant but there are accountants that would make good comedian's.
As I work for myself and have 2 new puppies ariving next week my company name will change to Daisy and Ellie T/A ---------------
On top of this aquittal, we here of the England manager's resignation![]()
All of a sudden, the buffers at the FA, have decided that the law of this country does not apply
A man is innocent until proven guilty
Anyone associated with football in this country who dare criticise them is censored too
Who the hell do they think they are!!!!!

As someone who returns a tax return every year, and given the history of their incorrect calculations the HMRC is the last set of people I would want to give summary powers to.

It crossed my mind before the verdict was known in this case that those with influence and power might be doing a bit of leaning in the right (wrong!) direction. Despite that, the Spurs manager remains a popular and likeable figure. I didn't want him to be found guilty but the point made earlier about the cost of such a case is entirely relevant. However, HMRC did say, subsequent to the verdict, that they would always pursue cases like this and that people should understand that tax evasion wouldn't be tolerated. If Harry and Milan had spoken to the revenue before doing whatever it was they did, all would have been out in the open and there'd have been no case to answer.
Quote: Are you referring to John Terry?
Definitely!
It is becoming to smell of a witch hunt against the man![]()

..and so it should not be, but...

If that was possibly the case, then HMRC could easily have resolved it at source.
Are we going back to the witch hunts of the '80's to divert public opinion against the public's favourite figures?
Lester Piggot and a few others come to mind.
The resources spent on the Rednapp/Mandaric fiasco, might have been used to bring a few of the dregs of society to justice - unfortunately, they would NOT BE easy pickings.
I can imagine the headlines, induced by government press if Rednapp/Mandaric had been found guilty
STINKS

Hindsight is a wonderful tool. Unfortunately none of us are furnished with this beforehand. Its easy to be wise after the event.
Court costs will always spiral if the case is complex and the defendants have funds with which to fight the charges. I hope nobody suggests we shy away from prosecuting people who are rich enough to put together an expensive defence team or where the losses are less than potential prosecution costs. What a state of lawlessness we would be in if we valued justice on a profit and loss sheet.
@ tomcat - who's been censored ?

Spent or saved ?

That is the bit that makes a joke of the so called justice system....!
If your rich enough, You put together an expensive defence team, You get of lightly or scot free....!
If your a poor sod, You have no chance your going down no matter what, Innocent or guilty....!
When justice depends on the size of your wallet/bank account, Its hardly justice is it.....![]()

If I was accused and called to trial for racial abuse I would rightly be suspended pending outcome of the trial given the environement I work in.
I believe the FA cocked this up in many ways - and one of them was by saying that he was suspended as captain pending the outcome of the trial. If that was their concner they should have said that immediately but instead some daft old farts decided to see if it would blow over first and ahve them avoid making hard decisions like this. No chance.
If they had said he was supended because of the distraction it would cause him (as captain) and the team it would have been easier - and not led to questions of 'why is he still allowed to play, then'?

There are a lot of things about our system of law that arent just. Sadly justice and the law are two very different things. Justice is a wide ranging concept that naturally by its logically meaning is fair .. whereas Law is a manmade construct that we have created in order to dispense justice - we just havent got it right yet.
Do you have any examples?
And if they are direct employees of the FA then the employer has every right to stop people posting adverse comments. Why do so many people (footballers, manager, FA and public) seem to imagine that normal employment standards don't apply?
I am talking about football folks in general, not employees of the farce that is the FA
A footballer is employed by his club, not by a bunch of decrepit old fogies who haven't a clue about the real world
If they had, then we would have won the world cup under the management of Brian Clough
