Was talking to one of the sales staff in Calumet today. According to him Canon are selling 10 5d MkIIs to film makers to every one to stills photographers. If that is right I would expect any upgrades to be aimed at the video functions.

the reason i ask is if there is an upgrade then 5d2 wiil be very cheap to buy ? i mean what happend to all the 5d1s which must have been on dealers shelfs when mk 2 came out ??

Yes the 5DM2 will be upgraded.

Only Canon knows when.

Current price on a mark 2 is quite good at the moment so why not enjoy the use of the body now instead of waiting an indeterminate amount of time, after which prices could rise because not many can afford the price hike demanded for the replacement.

Thats a lot of rubbish. there was only 3 years between the 5d and the mark 2. august 2005 and august 2008. It will not be replaced until august 2011. thats a guarantee.

Do they need to do anything other than read across the feature set from the 7D and update the analogue processing?
