If the area around The Jolly Sailor pub isn't all that great, should we meet at The Gun in Keyhaven instead?
We can than spend the rest of the day exploring that area.
What d'you all think?

I'm away all day Friday at Stourhead but sort your plans as if I'm not coming as I shall only be able to drop by for a while where ever we meet

Hi, I've just come back from the New forest and a main route is closed - Rhinefield Drive, at least from the A35 end. This might still be closed at the weekend and may affect your access to Puttisbridge.

They are also planning on closing the road from Boulderwood car park to repair a cattle grid at some point - didn't catch the date I'm afraid. As it's a very narrow road, with no turn-offs, it would mean a long stretch of forest inaccessible. That's the stretch from the A35 Rhinefield junction up to near the A31.

On a plus point, a lot of trees are showing autumn colours!

Sad I do not know the area at all but it appears this could be an inconvenience.
Details Here

I have contacted them and have been promised an e-mail with an update for our trip dates of 14/15/16 October.

Wow! They don't half believe in covering their backs!! The road could be legally closed for 6 months, but hopefully only 5 days!! Shows how much confidence they've got!!

Sarah and I will meet Jeff at the guest house, then travel to the pub together.
We will hopefully leave my house about 10.30ish, depending on the traffic situation, between Kent & Sussex, so will get to Lyndhurst about 12.30-1pm??
Would you 'Travellodgers' like to meet us in Lyndhurst too? Then set off together? As timings may be difficult to get exact on the Friday.

Would 'the local yokels' like to exchange mobile numbers so we can all contact/find each other? If so, PM me your number and I'll reply with my own.
I wouldn't worry too much about the road closed situation, as Matt says, we can park nearby and walk.

Promise I'll work on a plan of action for the Saturday soon!Smile
