That was boring. Voted an image down (know the poster is big enough to take it) but all it does it set the votes back to zero as they had one vote. Would have been nice to see a tally of votes on each side. Suspect said individual will now do the same to my upload Wink Cos at least I admitted what I had done on the image.

I don't like the idea of voting someone's photo down and taking someone else's vote away, that's horrible.

If I don't like a photo I just leave it or maybe leave a critique as to why I didn't give it a vote.

Both up an down votes need to require a comment as to why you voted either way, if you are going to have voting.

Totally agree, if you must have votes then they must come with an explanation, otherwise, as I said, I can't see the point of votes.

I don't quite see the point of the new system. Voting a photo DOWN? If you don't like it - just don't vote, but don't dishearten somebody simply because they feel that the photo isn't good enough, by making them minus votes. Somebody who doesn't have a great photo will then end up on -4 votes, for example. How do you think that makes them feel Sad
I also don't know why you have opened up a new gallery for it - just revamping the readers choice would work better. They're both pretty much the same anyway!

I don't quite see either about how this new BETA system makes any particular progress or in any way helps or cleans up any issues we have now. I think it will just lead to new arguments, the old system is the best.

I'm probably being far too critical, but I think that it needs a bit of time and eventually, once EPZ see how it doesn't really affect anything - they stop using it.

Gawd ... I'm soooooooooooooo transparent Wink

Agree with Cheryl, to see the tally at the very least would be beneficial. This beta system doesn't give you an idea of how many votes in total have been cast just the running total - of very little use as it stands.

Quote:I've entered photos that have got RC awards on here into other comps or at my photography club and they've bombed, so the votes don't seem to mean anything.

or as per usual it means that camera club judges don't have a clue Wink

I remember entering a photo in the monthly competition at the camera club that I used to go to based on how well it did on EPZ and it didn't make the top six at the club! I entered the same image in the yearly landscape competition that was judged by a well known professional photographer and I walked away with the best landscape image of the year trophy and a nice certificate!

Just goes to show how images are interpreted by different judges. I've not had an EC on EPZ yet but had editors choices ( or similar) on other sites. Again, it's a matter of personal taste of the person judging the images. Non of this bothers me, if I like an image I've produced that's all that matters to me.

Photography is an art after all.

Yes, it's all relative and dependant on individual judges, so.......the votes on here don't really mean anything do they Tongue

This will not work - it's totally flawed from the start...

This is an interesting one. I uploaded a picture this morning and decided to give the new system a go.

So far 50 viewings, 23 unique viewings, 7 comments and 0 votes.

It isn't a great picture so I suppose that as many people have voted it down as voted for it. As I said - interesting.

It’ll be interesting to see an image appear in the Photography Choice gallery after picking up 30 aggregate ‘up’ votes only to see it removed by the next ‘down’ vote & then reappear etc etc!
Can anyone explain what the point is? The only thing that would actually be interesting is WHY someone would vote/has voted a photo down so that the person who uploaded it can learn from it. But just deducting votes...I mean, what is the POINT?! Is it really just about who gets the most votes?? It is the comments I care about.

I think the choice suggests that you also opt out of the RC if you choose the new style, so I think they have thought that bit out.
