Hi everyone,

just made a start on my website, it may still look a bit amateurish but that's because I haven't been working on it for long...

it's primarily for up as an example of my capabilities for maybe an add-on on my cv...

really im just looking for tips from maybe those out there with websites themselves on how to improve the site and what i might be doing wrong/right etc.

the address is: www.lhsphotography.co.uk

im getting rid of the mono section by the way and just incorporating the black and white shots into the other categories.

thanks! Grin

I think the google add bar at the top of the home page spoils it a bit.

It'd be worth it.

You don't mind some constructive critique do you?

As has been said, the ads at the top really ruin it.

As you have gone for a single column down the middle of the page and small photos format you might be better off using a blog like Blogger, I have a blog on there, you can download all sorts of fabulous free templates and you don't have any ads on them.

This is my one with a free background from Aqua Poppy.

I think the black background is very harsh and your header isn't the same width as the column that your photos and text are in, which makes for a jarring feel.

Why don't you give Blogger a go and find a background that you like, mine is very feminine but there are 1000's out there Smile

You're welcome, it's always good to get fresh eyes to check things over, I always do that with mine too.

Hi Leigh, I agree with Fishnet, you can do some pretty cool things with the likes of Wordpress, there are tonnes of free templates as well as some more premium ones or you could build your own!
