Because of the different sensor sizes it is difficult to compare the optical performance as for example the Olympus lens has to project a higher line per mm performance to equal an APS or full frame performance. That is not to knock the Olympus lenses, but to rather point out lpmm data cannot be directly compared, as the Olympus may euphoniously look better.
Quote: Nikon, Canon way better than Olympus
Better at what, Knocking a nail into a piece of wood..? A better paperweight perhaps....
?
LOL....
Cameras have become the new " Medallion " for the guy/girl that likes to advertise what they have/wear.....!!!
Bottom line any camera is only as good as the monkey using it......![]()
Thats something that will never change, No matter what medallion you have around your neck.....!!!!!

Its a bit like asking if a land rover discovery is better than a lotus ![]()
There each good at there own thing, it all depends on what you want/need.
Olympus/Panasonic, great if you want to travel light with compact kit (m4/3)
Canon/Nikon better if you need plenty of kit and lens choice.
And so on

Right on the money.
There are examples of work on this site where the image was derived on Nikon D70's / Canon 10D's - and earlier.
It YOU that makes the difference - NOT the camera.

Any of you remember EPZ member Michal Wilczewski, he used the most basic of kit, an e300 with kit lenses.
He`s now here ![]()

In theory no - though I have not done comparison's to prove it.
What I do know using DX and FX is that a DX lens on DX generally out performs an equivalent FX lens on FX - because it is cheaper and easier to make a high quality smaller image circle DX lens than a larger image circle FX lens.
Olympus claim, probably accurately, because of the smaller than DX image circle, they build their lenses to a higher optical standard than Nikon and Canon.
A separate relevant question is - is Olympus going to stay in the interchangeable DSLR market?

The same questions where asked when the E1 emerged, of course they are.
