Hi everyone iam thinking about buying this lens for my D7000 to replace the sigma 10-20 i have. The sigma is a great lens but i think the 16-85 will serve me better as a general all purpose lens. I generally do landscapes hence the siggy but also getting into street photography and a wee bit of more glamour type at the local pole dancing studio. What do you think (my only other lens is a nifty fifty). Panamoz are competitive but i have never used them. Thanks
Rod
Have a look at the nikon 35mm 1.8g it may do what is needed, along with the 50mm, if you don't mind changing lenses and try keep the 10-20mm.
bad move selling the sigma i think, hence i suggested the 35mm 1.8g and using the 50mm. To me that is a nice dx line up for what you photograph.
I have both the sigma 10-20 and Nikon 16-85 and I couldn't part with either as they both have there strengths.
The Nikon will offer better quality but the wideness of the 10-20 can't be beat.
try and pack both in your bag if you can but if it comes to the crunch the Nikon will offer more versatility with the extra zoom and VRII.
Another recommendation for 35mm f1.8, you should get a excellent secondhand one for about £100.00, money very well spent imho.
