Might be old news to some, but I thought I'd give those who didn't know about this a heads up about two new Nikon's that are being announced very soon indeed.
Apparantly it's all legit, according to this here link.

From what I read elsewhere, the D300s is supposed to have video as the major addition - there are a couple of minor tweaks but the fundamentals remain the same apparently (sensor size/ISO range/fps etc)
I don't need video or the blinking live view on my D300 for that matter so I think I'll be skipping any new models in the near future. There are still buttons and menu options and even a lamp on top of my D300 that I haven't had to use yet...

If that's so, do you think the original D300 will then come down in price?
I doubt it frankly... the camera is too good and the baseline functionality remains the same (ostensibly - we'll see when it's announced formally) for it to make that much difference.
If it does drop, I can't see it getting lower than last year's prices in the meantime. My D300 cost me considerably less last July than it would today. Apparently being an impulse buyer had it's advantages
Don't say that David. Keith and Maddie both told me to buy one last August... I am regretting the decision to resist the impulse a little bit now...
Funnily enough Mike, it's their fault I bought mine too

Well I ignored everyone and bought one anyway and don't regret it. I think this is the only time in my life that I have bought something that has actually gone up in price afterwards!. Well apart from the TR6 that is.......(which I sold for more than I bought it for 10 years later).
The D300 is available for hire though Mike............. We ALL told you to go for it last summer............
Well, if my wife & I don't get jobs soon, my D300 will be in the classifieds.

Hang in there, things are gonna improve soon.
On a bright note the D300 is still a good camera & I don't think one could better it (even a direct replacement).
Sorry for the negative rant and for hijacking the thread.
I have been wanting to upgrade from the D80, I read rumors of the D400 been released in July then to be released in December. Do you think the D300s is a sign that we are still a long, long way from the D400?
