I recently purchased Nikon D5000 D-SLR camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX lens from buy.com through http://www.dealrocker.com discount deal. Now I am looking for a lens filter right away. Just wondering should I buy an UV filter or go with polarizing lens? My budget is under $100. I appreciate any assistance you experts can provide.

    Thanks..

There are a couple of filters types that you can fit, Then leave them in place to help protect the lens front element.

    1. a UV s you have suggested.

    2. a " Skylight " that I would recommend, As this can help remove the blueish tones from bright blue skies, That can sometimes be visible in the shadow areas of outdoor shots.

    3. Is a clear " NC " type that has no affect on the image at all.

You will be pleasantly surprised to find that your budget is way more than enough, Have a look for a brand called " HOYA " via " Ebay " , There are many suppliers in your part of the world.

If by Polarizing lens you mean a CPL " Circular Polarizer " these are great, But you may not want them fitted at all times.

Hope that helps.......I have to rush of now, Because we are in the middle of a very nasty " Thunder Storm " .....Sad EEEeeeekkkk !!!!!
