Probably not what you want to hear, but with the facility to play the video recording mode on many TV's it is likely to sell extremely well to parents or grandparents wanting to record their children's/grandchildren action - so I do not see prices coming down much this year.
Quote: Well I have not and never will.
i have D80 and the video is not for me. If I want to shoot video I buy a video camera
Well I can say I got one last week and I am loving it and I didn't buy it for the video feature ( I've hardly even looked at that yet ).
It is very similar to the D80 in looks and feel but it performs much better,
what I like about it are-
Great at high ISO even upto ISO 3200 - D80 was noisy above ISO 400.
Live View - Love this for composition, no more wonky horizon in awkward positions.
Customise Buttons to suit my needs even for the grip
4.5fps - great for sports, not ideal but much better that 3 fps.
What I dislike - Well I am still getting use to it, but so for there is nothing that I can find to moan about at this early stage.
I agree Irishman, it looks like they improved just about everything over the D80, and I would have thought existing Nikon owners would be pleased to see the image quality that the D300 has flow down into the lower cost models.
Video mode, just ignore it, its not like it has added cost or taken features away from the camera.
like the camera body, but the kit lens 18-105 is not good. soft foces... really hard to get a sharp image. i suggest you buy the body and spend extra on a higher quality lens. i wish i knew this when i bot my D90 three months ago!
