Very nice bits of kits

Guide price: D3 body only 3399.99 / 5180*
Guide price: D300 body only 1299.99 / 1980*

Does this mean cheap D200 then?

Couple of boo-boos in my opinion:

1) Not proper support for DX lenses = yet more outlay.
2) ISO 200 again!

I wouldn't say no but... Wink

This means two things for people who don't intend spending that much:
1) Cheap bodies should be going around
2) Cheap decent lenses... wahey Grin

the D looks a belter, bar the price, now if it was priced at the D2x range...

D300 looks tempting

At least it looks like they have put a decent cover over the trigger socket.

Yipee the New D300, should put pressure on Canon to pull the 5D price down (Lives in hope). Wink

Sadly it is price too high to push the 40D price down :-(
I thought the D3 was full frame?

The D300 could tempt me Smile

Been using 4/3 and Canon side by side, but went of canon big time Smile seriously considering dumping canon all together and using 4/3 and nikon side by side. This is just the thing I`ve been waiting for, not yet though I will have to save my penniesSmile

It is FF, given the FX moniker, so hence the new lens launch

That's about the same price that the D200 was when it came out, isn't it? I'll give it 9 months, perhaps they'll have dropped to price by then!

Poor old Canon user's, having to put up with just 10.1 Megapixels in Canons new offering Wink

Yep that would be good, plus improvements like weather sealing etc Smile

They've also launched some new lenses (funny that none of them are DX!), including a 24-70/2.8, apart from being a bit wider I wonder what difference it is to the current 28-70/2.8? The 14-24/2.8 sounds interesting.
I presume the D3 is the replacement for the D2H (hence the ISO 200). Do we really need 51 AF points?

They've also announced VR versions of their 400mm, 500mm and 600mm lenses so there is some serious competition for Canon at the pro end of the market (particularly given that they get VR II where as the IS on the Canon telephotos is the original 2 stop IS).

Dream on , the only reason people buy a 3D is because they want a full frame camera, and the D300 does not offer that.

It seems the D3 will switch to DX format automatically if you fit a DX lens, so I guess you can use either.

I did read that on KR though...Here
