Quote:Also love the salad bar at Morrisons and I used to go to kebab shops to buy only salad in pitta bread.

Oh god, now you've mentioned that my mouth is actually salivating!!! One of the things I love best is to stuff pitta breads with thinly sliced Chinese Leaf, squirt a load of lemon juice over it and add a sprinkle of salt ... one of the best meals EVER in my opinion Grin

I like where you're going with this Tanya -
my take is a well toasted pitta bread(brown or white), spread the insides with full fat humous, and filled with chopped mixed peppers - nom-nom-nom!

Must try that Tanya. Sounds yummy and I've never had Chinese leaf. I wonder if they sell it in Sainsbury - I've not noticed it though.

Go fully middle east and add a small amount of tahini and some chilli sauce.

This was very good, simply cooked, with a little sauce.

I'm still trying to convince the wife that the lime juice in a large margarita counts as one of my 5...

Beans on toast and left over baby Brussels sprouts.Grin

Incidentally, did you know that Brussels sprouts are really cabbage with the taxes removed?

Well, it's a start, she said, as she opened her second bottle of diet Pepsi.

Now I know you are pulling my leg: something from Brussels with the tax being removed. A likely story...

Chris - it looks like this (but obviously in a plastic bag Smile) I just lay it down and slice through from the green end back towards the white end, so you kind of get 'rounds' of the leaf. It falls apart really nicely so you can shuffle it up a bit. Oh, and forgot to mention to warm the pittas through first, spread the insides with a bit of butter, and THEN add the chinese leaf and the lemon (or lime) juice and salt.

Enjoy Grin

IMO it has a nicer taste and texture than lettuce and keeps for much longer as well. Plus you can stir-fry it as a variation.
