Apparently representatives of the Occupy movement have been invited to schools to put forward their cases
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-16650613
My first reaction is it is a good idea if the idea is to stimulate discussion among the pupils. But this is tempered by a cynical thought that the representatives most likely to take up this offer will be politically 'active' in some form and given the aims of the movement are likely to lean heavily to the left. I think it would need to be carefully agreed with the representatives what they will and will not cover.
I wonder if they will invite pro-banking lobby on another occasion to balance the debate? ![]()
Wait - since I don't follow these things that much - has the UK occupy movement actually got a set of unified aims and agendas sorted out? Or is it still mostly random groups protesting "against the man" about random things that a mostly connected with not liking rich/powerful people?

So you do follow them then!!!!!![]()
That is the bit I am not really sure about because whenever I have heard interviews on the radio, they have always said that Occupy don't have a leadership as such (which is also why I used the term 'representative' rather than 'leaders'). So of those who go into schools, who are they representing? Whoose point of view will they give? It seems to me they will be people who are even more likely to have strong political views so will the school be monitoring them?

That would be covered by the daily news and political rhetoric fed by mainstream media, after all there isn't much in the way of balanced debate there.

It seems acceptable to swallow up the 'Establishment' views, who monitors those?

True, all the coverage is about how evil the bankers are. So actually there is no need for the Occupy representatives to go ![]()

Assuming that is what teachers do...?
I think if I was a Head-Teacher I would think twice about inviting them in as once they were there they may not leave (after all, as they admitted recently in an interview, its all about getting maximum publicity for their many causes)
If I remember rightly they were invited into St Pauls, then they occupied it

The answer is 1) No 2) Yes
I visited the site at St Pauls two weeks (not to support them I add) ago and most of the tents were empty, the lefties had all gone home probably due to the cool weather we are having.

I seem to recall doing my very best to try and not occupy school ![]()

Then again, being associated with war crimes isn't what they're looking for.
Just seen the latest from these tossers, where they have occupied a building near the Barbican
When is this country finally going to get real - identify the b******s and stop all benefits to them/
I suppose they take it in turns to go and sign on?
More to the point, serve notice that they have 24 hours to leave, or go in heavy handed and throw the trash out.
They are totally contradictory as to their aims - couldn't give a toss about normal law abiding citizens, who pay our just due and demands, as demanded by our elected government
