Quote: As well as paying over the odds for the services they use, they are also caring enough to realise that in a civilised society they need to help those less fortunate than themselves and are prepared to give a reasonable portion of their earnings to support this

You mean like the Tory politician touted on Fox News explaining why the NHS was an irresponsible organisation and should be disbanded because it was partly responsible for the demise of the country...?

Quote: The vast majority of the left are societies takers, although they bleat on about socialism and workers rights (many of them don't actually work) all they really want is what others have and what they can get for themselves and want to bring anyone succesful down to their own level.
Unfortunately they have been their own undoing, starting with killing the car industry in the seventies with their 'we'll have some of that' mentality they have driven an ongoing agenda of doing as little as possible in return for as much as possible, which has eventually made our industry uncompetitive with other geographies and impacted available jobs for this group.

The right on the other hand are societies givers, they are prepared to, and do work for anything they get. As well as paying over the odds for the services they use, they are also caring enough to realise that in a civilised society they need to help those less fortunate than themselves and are prepared to give a reasonable portion of their earnings to support this.
Many are involved in job creation which helps the aformentioned group, and those that don't have paid work themselves are extensively invovled in volunteer work, quite often to help the aformentioned group.

TriumphV8 - You sum it up perfectly -

    Rather simplistic, but true.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:

There is a number 6(*) and it comes from Maggie Thatcher:

    1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

    2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

    3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

    4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

    5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

(*) Socialism fails when it runs out of other people’s money!

    Love it!........ but so true

I note the Socialists of you out there are rather quite on this post........... maybe it has hit the right spot!

Quote: What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

Correct. When I invest money, I expect to receive a return without working for it. Someone else can do the work. But probably the comment was meant to refer to people receiving welfare benfits and not working. The same is true in both cases of course. I pay taxes, other people receive benefits. Doesn't mean I get no money. I still get most of my money. And the pittance they receive is very little compared to what I'm getting after tax. Likewise I don't think the people working to pay the return on my investment are working for nothing. Although if you check, I think Apple shareholders get more than the chinese people who make the products.

Quote: Socialism fails when it runs out of other people’s money!

Isn't that what capitalism just did, in a spectacular manner ? Bankers lending out other peoples money they didn't really have, to people who couldn't pay it back anyway. A few years ago a friend of mine was talking about there being a lot of "funny money" in the system. Turned ou that was true. There is no way that could be called socialism.

Not that capitalism has failed permanently. Events have simply made me more sure that Kondratiev theory is working out as he thought it would, and that applies to capitalism, socialism and communism. Pity Stalin had him killed for saying so, but I think he was right.

Probably because the socialists among us are so lost for words by the sheer stupidity and primitive thinking behind some of the comments here.
Maybe it's because we have better things to do with our time than react to every silly remark made by people who will not agree to differ but seem to enjoy stirring things up like children.
We "socialists" (I'm green) have already answered, more than comprehensively, your arguments so many times before so please shut up - you're so boring...

Quote: maybe it has hit the right spot!

Maybe you need to grow up.

GREEN! -- thats even worse then Socialsim, bloody tree huggers ................................... Tongue
