The one lens that has really surprised me is the Sigma 19mm, cheap as chips but really good.

Taken today. I got halfway to the zoo and realised my camera was on the table at home. Went back, got the camera, and went to the zoo. Took a few shots and movies of the penguins, and went to the Rain forest house, where my glasses fell apart while taking the first shot. Wasn't my day.Tongue

Good penguin pics, Denny. I especially like the close shot of the one preening itself.

Quote: Its only been out about six months, far too early for a price drop

The E-M5 was launched 8 months ago. By now most camera bodies would have seen a substantial drop - some drop in as little as 3-4 months. On launch there were free goodies available - like the free grip which a similar price to the 45mm/f1.8 now on offer.

So..... I would agree the price has not come down at all. Demand is still very likely substantially outstripping supply, so Olympus don't see the need to do any discounting.

PS: Love the penguin pics, Denny. Smile

Do you think Olympus may have underestimated the demand for this camera? Or is it just simply that they can't make 'em fast enough?

Combination of the two, I'm guessing, Doug. They are currently in the process of closing 12 of their 30 manufacturing plants because of 1990s investment losses.... which can't help production.

Even the Jessops I went to had one. Yikes!!! (On show anyway. Doesn't mean they actually had one in stock though).

I got mine through my local Jessops when it first came out as nobody else had them in stock.
Gave me the chance to have a good play with it on several occasions before deciding to buy it (something you can't do with on-line shopping, and their price was as good as the best available at the time)

And still was when I bought mine from them Brian last month, and they're one of Olympus's approved dealers for the free lens (which is a cracker). Smile

Just checkout out Jessops' website. You naughty people - I'm not supposed to be looking.
But how am I going to buy one and integrate it into my kit without the OH noticing? New shoes and bags are easy compared with this! Grin
