Olympus OM-D EM-5 Discussion

Yes I saw that. I assume he's had dismissive comments from fellow pros or something!

The thought that something with such a "tiny" sensor can produce a usable photo must be a shock for some. The sensor isn't actually all that tiny; the crop factor is officially 2.0 but actually more like 1.9 or, because the aspect ratio is different, by one method of measurement, 1.7 crop. (As discussed on here about a year ago). Not exactly pinhead size! Wink

It's probably because they're not actually available yet, and Olympus are probably just loaning them to him for Focus and other events.

Erm, I'm sure it's just me Josh - but I'm not clear what this is a response to! Smile

Damian's test prints from the OM-D that he handed around certainly stood comparision to any DSLR. I wish I had 1% of his talent, I would be very happy.

Robin Wong had issued his 'Final Words' about the OM-D............. but he still can't stop talking about it and putting up pics taken with it! Grin

See here and here .

And the review of the OM-D's video capabilities has yet to come!

I would be wary of investing much in Olympus right now, the company is still in internal turmoil.

It's OK - you can use all sorts of lenses on them... not just Olympus ones! Smile In fact, I wouldn't need to buy any lenses at all if I got the OM-D, as I already have a Pen.

Olympus has been going since 1919 - though recessions and depressions - I think they'll probably stagger along for a bit longer. Wink

It's an ongoing situation but Olympus have done a major clearout at top level to get back on track, it seems ( article ), and they are launching new products all the time -not just cameras ( article ).

Anyway I have a crafty plan to get a substantial amount off the rather steep initial price of 999 (body only).smug-dark.jpg

..................... and, no, it doesn't involve breaking into Jessops! Lol! Wink
