Denny likes pulling our legs. For 1/8th the price it would be like taking photos through the bottom of a Coke bottle. Wink

Could that be an idea for a new Art Filter?

The Olympus does look like a slow, expensive lens, but the Panasonic above looks like a lot of bang for buck. Anyone used one - what's the optical quality like?

What are you using Olympus or Pany, optical quality I don`t think there`s a lot in it.

The Pany is cheaper, has in body IS, and its a little faster.

The Olympus focuses closer, is smaller and lighter and I think its better than the Pany for video.

Now that seems a fair price for that lens, considering it has ois built in, whereas Oly seems to add a premium to their lens prices because they have ois built into the camera. The only way to get them to be more reasonable is to by the competitions much more reasonable products.

Here's a user review of the Panny; Panasonic 100-300mm lens

At the moment I've just got an EPL2, but that was only purchased because I had the Panny 20mm f1.7 after I had my GF1 nicked.

I know it was a more expensive camera aimed at a different market, but I felt it was far superior to the Olympus.

To be honest - both are/were supplemental to my DSLR kit as a portable/innocuous alternative.

I'm thinking of maybe going for a GX1 if/when funds permit but I'm torn because it's not something I absolutely need.

The 20mm Panny is a lovely little lens - but not cheap.

Anyone had a go with the GX1 yet?

It should be pretty good, read here about a firmware upgrade for both the camera and that 100-300.

I`m using a G2 but prefer the Olympus lenses, I guess that makes me a little odd Smile

Well WEX have just informed me my Olympus OM-D EM-5 (in black, body only) will be arriving on Monday. The wait has been interminable! Grin

Will I be the first on EPZ (Pete/Josh apart) to get hold of one of these devices?
