Has anyone used P B Software.co.uk to buy Photoshop CS4 or any other software for that matter?
They have CS4 for £369 inc. delivery. It looks OK - full version not student - but sometimes these things are too good to be true.
    Thanks for any help.

Not sure how they can offer the full version for roughly the cost of the upgrade.

Just contacted their sales team using an online chat, having been warned that some cheap Adobe software on sale might be unlicenced US imports. I asked the question whether they were selling the UK retail package rather than an unlicenced import. At which point the sales representative did not reply. Several "Hello?" and "Are you still there?" messages went unanswered.

So I don't have a reply as to whether their software is UK licenced or not, but I know what conclusion I have come to...

If they would like to contact me and give me an answer of course I will clarify this post.

Do not understand the term 'unlicenced US import'. i understood that software is either genuine or pirated. I have used genuine software sourced in the US without any problems registering.
Adobe is imposing a 10% price rise for their products in the UK from July.

The only thing you actually pay for with software is the licence. The manufacturer can put whatever terms they like on that licence:
They can limit it to one machine or allow multiple installs
They can allow you to transfer the licence between machines or not.
They can limit it to a country, an area or make it worldwide.

If you buy a licence and comply with the tems of the licence then it is genuine, if not it is pirated.

Intersting. So, when leagl, genuine software, bought overseas is activated and registered witout any problems and is being updated through normal means via website, suggests that the terms of the licence being complied with?? No different from buying camera gear from overseas.

Yes, No, Maybe. You would have to (or more likely get a lawyer to) read the licence agreement for that particular item of software.

Sue, sorry for hijacking yr thread.
More and more interesting, technically this could apply to anything, music, movies even hardware, etc. Nikon tries to restrict x border erosion of market by restricting warranty conditions. So much for free trade markets.

Are you aware of any difference berween the two, Sue. I thought the student version was merely the full version heavily discounted.

My understanding is that the student's version is the full program with the licence restricted to non commercial and single use. Heavily discounted of course. The licence continues to belong to the person even they are no longer a student, but cannot use the program for commercial use.

Thanks for all your input, obviously no-one here has used this company.
I did email them to ask about the version but didn't get a reply, so wouldn't deal with them now anyway.

I think the student version is the full version but you have to have proof of being a student to get the cheaper licence.

Demands for proof of being a student is variable. Adobe requires a verification process, whilst Microsoft is less intrusive. Up to recently one could purchase a student's version of MS Office 2007 at PC world with no questions asked.
