I am going to South Africa in March and am hoping to get some good shots on Safari.
I currently have 2 lenses 14-45 and 45-200 and often feel that I can't get shots as close as I want them to be.
So am considering moving up a notch to the 100-300

Does anyone have experience of this lens and would recommend/not recommend it?
Also financially I am considering trying to sell my 45-200 to free some cash to buy the stronger lens but would anyone advise againat having a gap in zoom between 45-100?
Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology, hope it makes sense!
Thanks
Esther

yes i've got one and wouldn't be with out it ! the only thing i would suggest is when using it at the to p end of the zoom 300mm used a tripod or other support as it is quite hard to keep still
As far as I can see Panasonic only goes up to 300... am I right or being silly?

yes you are but in 35mm terms it is equivalent to 600mm

I have one and wouldn't be without it, small and light for what would be a 200-600mm zoom on 35mm. They've just upgraded the firmware to improve the OIS, though it was fine before as far as I could tell. I tend to use lenses like this on a tripod nearly all of the time as it is the only way to get the best out of it so the OIS is often switched off anyway.
If it helps, I've put a series of example tests ...here...
They were all shot jpg for quickness, the first time I've used jpg with 3/4 and they are actually pretty good. All sharpening settings etc are at default.
