Dear friends,
please can you help me?
Recently my son installed the upgrade for Windows 7 to my PC, which now doesn't recognise my Canon i9950 printer.
It worked with Vista no problems. Now it doesn't recognise it, even when I go to Add Printer.
I feel like I'm going nuts. I don't want to buy another printer, this one was working well.
I've even tried re-installing the CD-rom, but to no avail.
Frank.
Frank, disconnect the USB cable to the printer. then go to the Canon support web site and look for Windows 7 drivers. download that software and install it.
Then plug in the printer and give it a go.

the general advice with a PC is leave it with the version of windows it was supplied with as you enter the world of "are there drivers for my Hardware in the new software"
But looking at it the Vista and 7 drivers look the same. It could be that you have another problem. Check and see if the windows 7 installation has any hardware problems. For example is it having problems with your USB bus.
Hopefully your son installed 7 as a dual boot. If he installed 7 as an upgrade, that could well be the problem. I would recommend installing 7 fresh, perhaps as a boot option to Vista. OS upgrades are famed for not working all the time and leaving the user with weird problems.
