    er, I did. And while I fully admit it was no more than an experiment initially, I really couldn't go back now. I do hate all this religious passion about operating systems though - there are at least three decent ones around at the moment - just choose what suits you best.

    Good point an OS is an OS and it is the applications that do something.

    I also think that the end may be in sight for the Mac and Windows OS and Linux may well have the last laugh. I have seen some very good Linux based products, and the OS is beautifully hidden. The computer as we know it for the home is rapidly evolving into an information/entertainment system.

    In another couple of generations the OS should be banished to a place the user never sees, and that can only be a good thing.
