i would stay with the K1000 if there was no such thing as digital BUT as news gos digital is a must.

i been trying to start threds of the use of Pentax camers in photoj becuse i seen menny decutions about Nikon and Cannon.

maby we can share our experiences and how we can use our cameras better in photoj work.

i run a on line newspaper for Augusta Co. VA and sell photos to others

ok i find that the K100D is a better night time camera the asa 3200 deftly gives it the edge over the K10D for night time shooting also has less noise not that the K10D is bad

But how often do you use the above kit, Ceri?

Whenever I have something a bit too technical (close up work for example) or too important to trust to one of my old miniatures - 'bout one roll of film a month... 'technical' usually means using the MXs but otherwise the kit is...

    ME-Super 50mm f1.7 & winder
    AF280T
    28mm f3.5
    100mm f2.8
    80-200mm F4.5

I have used PENTAX for press work since 1961: I was working with Breda Studios Barking, Essex England, and one of the partners had been to Singapore in the RAF and brought back these weird cameras called 'Asahi Pentax H2 and K2'- I was in the Army in Germany and had bought a 1937 Contax II with f1.5 (uncoated!) Sonnar lens which I thought was the 'Bees-knees'until I saw the results from these strange 'Pentax' cameras with 'Takumar' lenses - nobody had ever heard of them ! We knew only of Tessars, Sonnars. Xenars etc. Well, when the restrictions on importing of cameras were finally relaxed a bit and a 'PENTAX S3 appeared in the window of a camera shop in Barking I was first in the queue, swopped my Contax gear for £35, the Pentax was £85, paid the difference and That, as they say, is where the story starts ! 2 Pentax LX, 3 Me Supers, 2 MX, 1 P30 ( given) , Program A (won but worn out),Spotmatic, SV (given),6x7 mk I and II and K10D ( only because I won £220 Jessops Vouchers towards the cost) -so many Pentax screw and bayonet lenses to count ( lots GIVEN).

It's taken me a while to get used to the newfangledness of the ME-Super but I can now change the shutter speed without swearing and seldom drop the camera in fright now when the winder fires Smile

If I go digital it'll be a Pentax SLR

Pentax S3 - I believe that this was the model that a friend of mine bought - the lens had a pre-set iris. For about that price.

This camera was a quantum leap, compared to the Edixas and Exactas SLRs that were around at the time.

Within months a fully auto lens version appeared.

Bought from a camera shop in the Kingsland Road, Hackney.

Don't know if it's still there. Was a great shop.

If he had the lenses he used would still fit on the K10D
