Just browsing, looking at the camera I keep putting off buying, when I notice on Pentax's US site that they are giving rebates of up to $500:00 off of the d ist (when purchasing the body and lens together).
Is this rebate likely to happen in the UK and other countries?
If not why not Pentax? (yeah, yeah, more sales in the US blah, blah, blah...)
Hi Terry I have seen similar deals on the other makes as well.
One of the companies that do this is based in the US and often it will not matter where you are in the world, the deal (often) is that you send off for your rebate around 11 months after buying the camera, the registration and all paperwork and timing must be spot on otherwise no rebate!!
Customers must follow all T&Cs to the letter or once again no rebate.
Alan
I know what you mean about the terms and conditions to the letter etc. The Hoover hoover thing still comes to mind for me...
This offer though is direct with Pentax and seems totally gen - as long as you buy (and live?) in the US. Check out at the bottom of the page at: pentax-usa
Just seems a bit mean that the americans can buy products cheaper anyway and then some more!!
Terry
I don't know how the rebate will work, but from what I've gathered it will not be available outside the US. Seems to be a prePMA promo (which some think will run until Pentax's anticipated baby DSLR is ready to hit the shelves). Olympus is doing a similar thing with the E-1 too.
It annoyed me when I discovered it was a US promotion. I'd like to get the *ist D, but can't quite stretch to it's current selling price. If I was in the US, I'd probably have bought one by now. So until the price drops, I'll wait.
