Hi, can anyone help ? I may have to buy a DSLR for someone who I believe has an old Pentax 35mm SLR, and, from what I can gather, a few lenses.
If I get the K10D will all his old lenses be compatible ??? What I don't want to do is land him with an obligation of more expense, but, the favour being returned will probably only run to body and kit lens.
    Thanks,
    Rod.

Hi rod, the lenses will fit, but no metering will work if they are manual lenses. If they are AF lenses, you should have full compatability. You may also have to set the K10D to know it has a manual lens attached to it in the menu or it won't play ball.

Thanks Matt, so he will at least be able to use them one way or another. What I didn't want to do was land him with the expense of having to buy lenses straight away just to get it going.

Yes Rod, he can use them but as Matt says you have to custom set the camera in the menu.

Brief outline can be read here
