Hi,
The other day I stupidly formatted a compact flash card before getting all of the pictures off it.
I have a Canon EOS 300d and I was shooting in RAW format.
I have downloaded and tried a number of pieces of specialist software that claims to be able to recover images from formatted media but it only seems to really work on JPeg images.
Has anyone out there used/found software that works with the RAW images from a Canon EOS 300d?
Thanks
Marc
Marc.
Had a very similar problem over the weekend. In my case I dropped the CF card backup drive - lost the lot.
Found a brilliant product called PhotoRescue - website here. The demo will find the files and save them to an archive that needs the licenced version to recover them back to their original state. Give the demo a try; at least you will be able to see the thumbnails of any recovered files before commiting to the 19-odd to get the licenced version.
In my case it recovered virtually everything from the two formatted CF cards (1Gb's - worth of Nikon RAW files!)
Good Luck.
Mike
I am currently in correspondance with tech support at the moment. A good tool and great support at the moment, shame it just doesn't work for me at the moment.
It seems they are doing their best to help me retrieve my files. They said that if I purchase the software and it doesn't retrieve the files they will refund my purchase.
So far they the software can only extract the embedded preview images, the Canon RAW files extracted are corrupted some how when they are retrieved. ![]()
Hopefully, they will work something out and I'll post the response here.
Glad to hear it worked out fine for you in the end.

had the same problem the other day, so i downloaded sandisk`s one, the raw files came out but i had the same trouble, about corruptness, but then realise that when it rescues them it automatically reduces the file size unless you uncheck it, did that and got them all back ;o)
Luke
give me your email and i wiil send the program 13mb
You could do worse than try this software from Pc Inepsctor - I have just used this to recover from CF and Xd Cards no problem at all.
Sorry to hear that Marc. I'll keep everything crossed for you...

Hi,
Thanks very much to Luke. The San Disk tool did the trick and I now have all my images back, which makes me a happy man!
Just a point worth emphasising is that photo recovery are a very good and professional company. They said that if I bought their software and it didn't work they would refund my purchase and they have done just this with no complaints or fuss. Their customer service was impeccable as well, just a shame it didn't work for me, but it might for others.

hi.. check out Camera Photo Recovery Software. I had a sd card in which i had lots of valuable photos. When i tried to load them onto my laptop, all of them got deleted accidentally. I used this software and could recover each and every photo i lost. Certainly worth trying!
I had an almost identical problem 2 years ago I used this can't rate it high enough it recovers virtually every file. There were a couple that were corrupt, and on one card it recorded the RAW's as Tiffs, tho just changing the suffix back to .nef worked. If my memory serves me right I recovered a couple of hundred files that I'd thought were gone for ever.
It's also free so worth a try. I really feel for you I know what it's like.

Many freeware programs are available to recover deleted photos from corrupted CF card. The digital media recovery tool can be used to get back your lost raw photos from corrupted CF card. It works with any type of digital card reader that appears as a drive letter in your computer. The program displays images that it finds as thumbnails and allows you to recover all of them, or just selected items. The software can recover all the picture formats including JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, JPEG, GIF, WAV, MPEG, AVI, MOV etc.
