Today whilst photographing Southport town centre, I was approached by a sales assistant/manager from Phones 4 U. He asked what I was doing and asked if I would delete any Images of Phones 4 U.

Out of politeness and to avoid any conflict I deleted the file and said words to the effect of I don't have to but out of politeness and courtessy I will do so.

He then went on a rant about how I did have to delete the file, had no right to take it etc...etc... all in an aggressive manner.

Unfortunatly I had already Deleted it when his rant started or I would have refused.

I am now going to write to Phones 4 U (Both branch and HQ) demanding a written appology.

Someone who works in a shop has no right to demand anything of me when I am going about my business on a public street, let alone order me to refrain from photography and delete images!

Does anyone have any Ideas as to how to word my letter to them??

Thanks in advance.

You really should have stood your ground, otherwise he will just do the same again.

I should have refused in the first instance and I really wish that I did.

It didn't bother me though untill he started with the 'you have to and I demand it' attitude.

I photograph Towns and Cities for a living and enevitably, every now and then someone asks 'what are you doing'.

This is the first time though anyone has ever demanded deletion.

(and as you can tell, it has really p'd me off)!!!!!!

Did you swap cards in the camera so you can recover the deleted pic when you're back home?

During the day I filled that card to capacity so I don't think it will be recoverable.

Its ironic we dont have the right to ban their dire TV adverts getting stuck down our necks every time we turn the TV on Wink

Ive heard some nice things about that company and Im not keen on their sales methods....

use recovery software to get the deleted picture back and and send prints to the manager of the phone 4 u shop just to wind him up.

Sounds like a 'Monday night challenge' to me. Best image of a 'Moans 4 U' shop.

Bonus points if the manager is included in the picture Smile

What is the mentality of these people, public shop front in full public view? Wonder if he was up to something he shouldn't be, maybe his displays weren't up to scratch or he's been skimping on the window cleaning budget.

I'd go back

Way to go K...

Personally?... I'd print out an A3+ print of the image and whack it on his window - facing inwards.

Then stand outside the with the EPZ Meet members - and watch his face.
