    Dear Epz members,

I am now in my final year of GSCE's and have taken the opportunity to do Photography as one of my GSCE's. I have one set topic which I have to photograph but I get to chose another myself. Here's where I need your help...

To get a good grade my teacher says I need the following:

    a) An original/different topic
    b) An interesting topic
    c) Something creative and possibly fun

So basically something the examiner wont have seen before and will like.

So if anyone has any ideas or suggestions , i would be very grateful if you would post them.

Afterwards , i will let you know what I have chosen and will keep you posted on how I do! No doubt i'll be asking for more help sometime soon!!!

Thankyou xxx Niki xxx ( Photographychic )

    My email is: LaxonN@aol.com

Your Rose close up could be an idea to develop - natural patterns in flowers and leaves is interesting, different and creative.

Also similar would be bowls of fruit, sweets, vegtables, bread and cheeses.
Relatively easy to get hold of the items - and not wasted as you eat them afterwards.

Hope this gives you a couple of ideas.

Dont listen to anyone else - go with what you feel is right and your own ideas. Its called having a style

If they arent good enough then maybe photography isnt for you.

I got a C in my chemistry O level so havent done anything in it since - it just wasnt for me.

    Oh and wot keith said!

what do you do in your spare time apart from photography? you could shoot that.

It seems like maybe I might have offended some people by asking for ideas ??? If so i am sorry !!! I wasn't thinking of totally copying the suggestions, just trying to be inspired and if I heard something I like I would try and put my own spin on it.

Many Thanks for your comments anyway...

I have just had an idea though, maybe taking pictures through different keyholes & seeing whats on the otherside....maybe a secret garden. I'm not sure. What do you think???

Niki I think the point is us giving you ideas etc would completely spoil the whole point of the task. I suggest you think up some ideas and if you want test the water with these ideas here. But, and its a big but. The people here may well not provide input that would help you in your task.

You have an idea, go work it out would be my advice.

Go for it and see what happens. One thing you said makes it very very difficult for people to help you...

I reckon the vast majority of people on here would love to come up with something original but most things have probably been done before.

Sorry I'm no help but good luck Smile

It's not a bad idea but keyholes are quite hackneyed - looking through things isn't bad tho - looking through glass, wire fences, lace - just about anything you can look through Smile

I dont something more like a History project for my Final Project for photography GCSE, I found a really old book full of photographs that were taken from around 1860 -1910 of the city I live in.
I then went back to the same spot and took the a new image from where the old on was taken, a lot of buildings had changed some were still there and I took some of modern buildings.

I dare say that the examiner won't have seen many pics like the latest one from your aunt and it's fun (for us anyway). Seriously though, it would be better to come up with ideas of your own creation as I'm guessing you will have to do some 'talking' around it and if it's your own idea then you will be able to say more with more conviction. Trawl the site, something might provide the inspiration you require. Also, talk to someone who will be honest with you and help you on your way (your aunt sems like a good place to start). Would love to see some of your tryouts as I'm sure there would be people here willing to provide honest feedback.

just had a quick glance at your pf and your technique and photo's are of a high standard, to surprise your tutor will be rather difficult, macro is allways quite good-a good lense and with some tubes can provide some excellent creative shots varying the DOP etc,,, also creative use of zoom thoughout the exposure gives a good effect,,,,photo montages throughout the life cycle of a plant work well too eg...bud...flower...seed-head etc..........on a note i've not tried but think could work well.....eyes and eyebrows...if u have ever seen the wallace and gromit movies you may have noticed that gromit(the dog) can show many emotions with only the eyes/forehead and eyebrows,....to capture a similar effect on film would be highly original hope this helps

    There's a GCSE in photography??

Jeez....now I do feel old. I take it they still find time to teach standard fare as English, Maths, Chemistry, History....
