My hard drive bit the dust last week so I've had to put everything back on! :O{ Having a problem with my photos though. When I go into my pic folder and try to open it it opens straight to Elements. Is there anyway I can stop it doing this? As you can tell I'm not very tech minded - lol! Thanks in advance.

Hi Tracy, if you right mouse on the image, xp will give you various options on what software the file can be opened in, if you want a default go to tools / folder options / then select jpeg or whatever your default file format is and select the software you wish to use.

Right click on the thumbnail of your image, select Properties,
near the top you will see "type of image" and "opens with------Change". Click on change and change it to the program you want to open the image with. This will now be the default prog to open all your images.

Just noticed this thread and it reminded me that I have a similar problem using Vista on my laptop.

I've tried the above methods but Winows Picture Viewer always ends up as the default - just a minor niggle but wouldn't mind sorting it out. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks everyone, got it sorted now, one less niggle to worry about - lol!

Hope you get yours sorted Jim.
