Having upgraded my D70s to a D80 last month. I found that I could no longer use RawShooter Essentials as Nikon in their wisdom decided to change yet again their NEF file format. No doubt it`s their way of getting you to use their own software. ie, picture project (free) or their full blown editing software (Capture NX). Having spent the best part of £1000 on new kit, I begrudge having to go out and spend even more money, just to edit my shots. After all, you don`t buy a car without wheels do you?
Anyway. To get back to the subject. having tried out one or two other software packages on free trials etc. It would still have meant me spending more money. To my knowledge, many people here use Photoshop or Elements. Hurray! at last. Photoshop now have a beta version of their DNG converter available for download. New camera models it supports are....
Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi
Leica D-LUX3
Leica Digilux 3
Nikon D80
Panasonic DMC-LX2
Pentax K100D
I`m not sure if this is the right place to put a link for the download, but here it is.

I hope this is of help to all of you out there who have purchached the D80 and found it frustrating they can no longer use RSE and other software difficult to handle.
regards,
chris
Do you get the full Capture NX with the D80?
I think its a very good software application and possibly the future!
