    I have a friend that is looking for a good point and shoot digital camera and one that is not to expensive. A fair optical zoom would be nice.
    Does anyone have any suggestions and model numbers.

    The Panasonic TZ 7 has been replaced and has dropped considerably in price. It has has some great reviews.

    The TZ stands for Travel Zoom - a very good, versatile compact camera

    At Amazon the TZ8 is at the same price. It has better image stabilisation and adds some features that photographers may like for example aperture priority. I think the image quality is the same.

    They have the zoom he is looking for and many more nice features.
