I have been watching a price of Canon 5d camera and other accessories for a while.
Interestingly the prices have not come down. The so called sales by the noted dealers if read between the fine lines is not a sale at all. It reminds me of the price fixes by Supermarkets. Any thoughts? No wonder we make an attempt to buy it from hongkong dealers. Its a another Great Britain rip off taking advantage of the EU laws.
Thats not really a fair assesment. What were you expecting?
Everyone at the moment is having economic troubles and prices are based on demand - if there are plenty of people out there seeking 5D's then prices wil either hold or even go up depending on who wants them.

What EU Law? Explain that!
Many thanks,
allow me to educate.
Please follow the link where we as a United Kingdom cannot allow ourselves for a rebate. With regards to prices
1500 US dollars is not equal to 1500 GBP, if you can make sense of what I mean.

I worked in retail for many years...... genuine sales are almost impossible to find...... price manipulation, straight forward lies...... I had the embarrasment of working for huge retailer that announced a boxing day sale upto 50% off selected items...... the selected items were a packet of video tapes and a packet of batteries.... the other items 300 items out of 3500 had something live 2-5 % off......... how many adverts do you see with kitchen or bed companys 50% off and a extra 15% of that price 4 days left offer must end.....etc etc....... its price manipulation and downright lies.....
I worked at Rumbelows 25 years ago and I remember some items going up in the Sale. Sometimes there were some genuine bargains and loss leaders.
I wish Trading Standards, Consumer Protection or whoever were a bit more proacitve, going out policing 'sales' rather than waiting for complaints before acting. They move so slowly too that loads have been ripped off, the sale is over by the time they do anything.
Did you see the Mary Portas thing on CSL sofas? She persuaded them to do away with the phoney price cuts and they did, but because others (SCS, DFS etc) haven't followed they've had to reintroduce them.
AKS - Many thanks for the link which was interesting but coming from an anti-European organisation its a bit one sided. Of course being in the EU has a cost but the article does not mention anywhere that we also get lots of benefits from being a member(minimum wage for example, vehicle emission legislation, no borders making European travel so much more pleasurable) - however I will agree we probably pay more in than we get in cash back out, but then thats the price of belonging to any club - maybe your Golf Club or my Archery Club..
However I do not see the link to your original disapointment that prices of 5D's are not coming down.

Thanks for 'Educating' us lol. I would say if you wish to get round paying import tax by buying from Honk Kong you will be letting yourself in for a right Long-Head-Ache if something goes wrong. I personally own two 5D2's both purchased from UK retail shops and they are worth their weight in gold to me !. I cant see their being any change in prices or the high demand until ( if and when ) the 5D3 hits the shops. Just get out there and get one bought they are amazing cameras.

Can you be more specific?

I can't see what that has to do with the EU, or with your original post.
