You may have some canned (generic) Epson paper profiles loaded in with your Epson software - the profile describes both printer and paper. Some paper manufacturers provide profiles for you to download that are suitable for your printer (e.g. Ilford).
You could also consider having custom profiles produced, which would theoretically perfectly match the output of your own printer and a specific paper. That costs around £20 a throw I think.
Bear in mind too that the Spyder in itself corrects colour in colour-managed applications but it doesn't guarantee a perfect screen-print match, which is the purpose of soft-proofing. It also may not adjust display brightness - often that's a manual process.
