Does anyone out there have/use one of these. I bought one (second hand) yesterday from Ffords. It's been on charge now for about 5 hours but doesn't seem to getting any more than 1/4 to 1/2 charged.

I just wanted to check before I call Ffords and have them replace it:

    1) What lights should be on when in the correct charging state?

    2) Do the green 'gauge' lights come on once it's fully charged?

The reason for my asking is because the ducumentation that came with it state that if the serial number is L268 or below then the yellow light stays on until the charge is complete (3-10 hours)

If the serial number is L269 or above then charging is complete when the leds stop blinking (3-5 hours).

Here's where the confusion sets in. Mine is serial No. NXXX, however the lights are behaving as though it were the earlier serial batch if you catch my drift.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Phil,

Look up Hardy Haas and the nice people at Flaghead Photographic, distributors for Quantum in the UK. Call them up and speak to them - they're very helpful people and they'll have the answer for you.

In general with lead acid batteries of this kind, if they don't go beyond 1/2 charge then the battery cells are knackered. Ffordes should replace under warranty.

The Quantum stuff is very much "repairable" (but not by Joe Public) so worry not...

Hi Andy, thanks for that. It seems to be charging up now, so maybe it hadn't been used in a while. I'll leave it to charge for the 10 hours then test it, plus I'll speak to the guys at Flaghead as you suggested.

The good thing with Ffords is that they offer 10 days home trial and a full 6 month warranty on all second hand kit, so if it does prove to be duff then I'll get them to replace it.

    Thanks
    Phil

Yep, good point for others reading this - Ffordes are a superb company to deal with, as are Flaghead...

True indeed Andy, I ordered the unit yesterday afternoon and it was delivered special delivery at 7.30 this morning. I will be ordering more kit from them this week.
