Hi guys
I'm fairly new to photography,I've found a Samyang 8mm F3.5 Fisheye for sale and cheap but it says it's built for a camera with the APS-C sensor.I have a Canon 1100D which has a CMOS sensor and I'm wondering would I be able to use it with my camera and if so would there any difference?

Some landscapes shot with that lens can be seen at the above link.

APS-C is the generic name for sensors which are approx 1.5-1.6 crop factor in size - like your 1100D. A CCD sensor can also be APS-c in size

CMOS [b]Complementary Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor] is the name of the technology that your sensor uses - as opposed to a CCD [Charge-Coupled Device] type sensor.
Each technology has advantages and disadvantages:

....would I get the same benefits from this lens with my camera Nikon D7000 which is DX format ?
cheers....Mike
Totally.
The D7000 also has an APS-C sensor.
.,
The Samyang is a very good lens.
It comes in various manufacturers mounts and for SLRs and 4/3rds camera systems (just make sure it is the right one for your camera).
Just don't expect it to auto focus - it is a manual lens for both focus and aperture.
Don't let that put you off though, it is very well made with a metal lens mount (more than can be said for some much more expensive makes) and has much less distortion and chromatic aberation than you would expect for a lens of that price.
I have the 7.5mm vertion for the micro 4/3rds Lumix and Olympus --- there are a few on my portfolio page going back 6 weeks.

...thanks for that kaybee, not sure that I could cope with that.
...I struggle normaly so don't need further complications ![]()
cheers....Mike
I wouldn't worry about any focusing problems with a lens this wide, its own inherent depth of field virtually guarantees that everything will be in focus.
