Can anyone recommend resources for studio lighting techniques and equipment. I photograph clothing only (no people and only two lights on my site www.vintagetextile.com and need more depth and contour.
Thanks, CMA
Can you move the mannequins away from the background? That would keep the shadows off of the background. You don't say what type of lights you are using, but if you're using strobes, perhaps you could purchase a small slave strobe to light the background. Are both lights set at the same level? Or is one the main light and the other the fill light (set at 1/2 the power of the main light)?
Photoman, this is a very useful comment. We use two 500 watt Photofloods on stands. We have just ordered this kit, though have no idea how to use it:

Your assistance is greatly appreciated. We hope that the umbrella and/or softbox will help create less flat, more glamorous, contoured pictures, using chiaroscuro, like the great fashion photography (Steichen, et al.) of the 1930s, though without Greta Garbo or any people, just clothing.
