Red eye and flash diffusers

Does using a flash diffuser such as the Omnibounce, reduce or eliminate red-eye, particularly if the flash head is in the "straight ahead" (i.e. not bounced) position?

TIA

Lessons it, but doesn't eliminate it. Mounting the flash off camera does. Omnibounce should be used at 45' angle. No need for it pointed straight up or off a wall.
