Belkin make a camera remote accessory for the iPhone. There may well be similar devices from other manufacturers too.

There is an app that allows an iPod to trigger an iPad and vice versa etc ... It's free as well.

Cheers Pete. Downloaded the app as it's free for the rest of 2012. I Started looking for a remote way to fire the iphone camera and now I can fire my slr from my iphone! I had a similar tool for Android that used live view turning the phone into a view finder. It was bit unstable and never used in anger.

We reviewed the Belkin iPhone remote release earlier this year: http://www.ephotozine.com/article/belkin-liveaction-camera-remote-review-19321

For firing your DSLR, we have recently reviewed the ioShutter: http://www.ephotozine.com/article/ioshutter-ios-shutter-release-cable-review-203...

I am also just starting the review of the TriggerTrap.
