From which I discern you're happy with your choice; which is good to hear. For some weird reason, I genuinely feel a bit relieved. Grin

Quote: I'll only use DPP when I process raw from the S100.

It wouldn't worry me at all to use Adobe for the Olympus RAW and DPP for the Canon RAW. I've got Adobe all set up for my OM-D anyway. I have used DPP in the past but, as you indicate, it is a tad odd and I didn't persevere with it. Olympus's equivalent of DPP is rubbish.

But my question was really whether you apply NR....... regardless of what RAW converter is used?

I bought the S100 from DigitalRev, online for just over £249. Excellent customer service and only 2 days delivery from Hong Kong. Why pay UK prices when you can get them so cheap from there, check them out if you havent already.

Have you had the bill for import VAT (20%) yet? Does it have a Canon UK warranty? Smile

Ah right. By default I leave Luminance NR and Chrominance NR at 0 (Scale is 0-20).

If there's noticeable noise in a particular image I find in DPP that I can push the reduction as far as 16 before NR damages detail too much.

This is the sort of spur of the moment shot to which the S100 is well-suited. I've called this one: "In Hot Pursuit - A Policeman's Paperwork is Never Done". Grin

Fancy a good compact myself. Is the S100 still the best to go for? I do like an Optical Viewfinder though!

If you have the cash, the new Sony RX100 is now looking like the pocket camera to get.

Not sure how pocketable it is actually........... around 36mm thick compared with 26mm for the Canon S100. More handbaggable than pocketable? Wink
