My Nikon D80 & 18 - 135 kit lens were damaged in a recent accident. They were insured and I have been offered a Nikon D90 & Nikon 18 - 200 lens as a replacement. However the offer is flexible and I can upgrade or choose equipment of the same monetary value. Therefore I could opt for a Nikon D7000 & 18 - 105 kit lens. I am not sure what the best option would be? Any advice would be appreciated.

D7000. Definitely. D90 is an excellent camera but the D7000 has all the latest tech and the lens is OK as well. Can you keep the 18-135 this is a pretty good lens as well, you could sell one or other in the classifieds on here!
Agree with Janes suggestion, Sure the D90 is a great camera, But like all things that rely on technology, It has now been surpassed by the D7000, Just compare the specifications and you will see.
Unlike the past film SLR cameras where you might have the same body for 10 or 20 years, Or until it fell apart, Today's DSLRs change technically with every new model.....!!!
That said I doubt you would be unhappy with a D90, The difference in price might allow for the purchase of a top class lens....
D7000. Great camera - just love mine! The 18-105 is a good lens too - have fun whatever you choose. Sue
Thanks for the comments, it was a great help, I have gone for the D7000 and 18-105 kit lens. Neil
I have the D7000 and 18-200mm. lens and I have to say I am delighted with the results I get from these. Most of my recent images in my portfolio have been taken with such. You will not be disappointed with the D7000.
same here with my D7000 & 18-105 combination .... excellent results; btw don't forget to let us know who your insurance company is; it looks as though you have a good one.
