    Hullo!

Got a rather pleasant surprise this afternoon when I logged into my Alamy account to check how things are going - I've sold this image here to a greeting cards company in europe. It's a traditionally licenced image, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the card sells well so that I might get another recurring sale from it.

Anyways, I'm not really wanting to toot my horn too much; I thought it might help offer encouragement to other people just starting out in the stock business. Smile

    Michael.

Well done Mike it's a great shot. I'm interested in doing similar have you any tips or is it just a case of keep writing and sending shots? Any advice much appreciated!

    Cheers, folks. Smile

Stu and Mike - just persevere. The shot that sold the other day is one that I've had with them since I signed up (which was about a year back), so it's just a matter of time. Just keyword them with everything you can think of that relates to your shots and hopefully your shots will do the selling for you. Smile

I'm finding Alamy not bad, Mike. Had a few sales through them so far, so it's encouraging. This particular shot was sold through the worldwide distribution programme that they recently launched. They take a a touch more in commission from you for that scheme, but if it provides sales, then it's worth it, I guess. Wink

Cheers for the info, with Alamy do you have to pay to upload shots or do you only pay when they are sold?

    Thanks again

It depends on what contract your are on, Stu.

They run Alamy Blue, and Alamy Green.

With Blue, you recieve 65% of the profit, and you're free to send in as many shots as you like without charge.

With Green, you get a higher cut, 75%, but you pay a monthly fee for your images (I think it's monthly - those in the know may be able to correct that if wrong).

Be aware, however, that once you sign up to a particular contract, you cannot change from Blue to Green, or vice versa.

    Michael.
