One of our members alerted us to some sad news late last week about Peter James of the Santago project.
Peter has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and is now in a critical condition. He is an advertiser of ours and, as many of you know, he's been very helpful to those who like taking photos of rare leopards and cats by allowing access to his centre where he's been breeding them.
Over the last 20 years professionals have been running courses at the centre and photographers have been able to visit on open days. Our captive animal section of the gallery has many photos of large cats taken on events at the Santago project.
Peter's wife Jackie will take over the business, but she needs public liability insurance to allow her to give photographers access to cats. Without this insurance the centre will close.
For these reasons we have decided to help raise money to try keep the centre open. See the news story here.
As a rule, we don't normal actively promote fund-raising, but Peter has been a client friend of ours since the very early days.
As an extra bit of help, can I please ask you all to help raise awareness of this by posting a link to the news story in the other forums you visit (and any other ways you can think of).
Many thanks in anticipation of all your help. We'll keep you updated.
Tracey

Bumping this to bring it to the attention of others.
I've never been there but wish the project well. Let's help give a little bit of cheer this Christmas.
Looking back through the gallery there have been a quite few EPZ member visits. I do hope something can be done.
Has the overseas donations problem been sorted yet?
Thank you to those who have or are about to donate. If 700 people give £10, the Public Liability Insurance will be sorted. There are about 14 cats, each costing over £1200 to keep per annum. Pete James was running this very much as an expensive hobby for many years.
I spoke to Pete's wife within the last couple of weeks and she really would benefit from a successful fund-raising campaign. Caring for someone as poorly as Pete is a huge task.
