    Hi Folks

I want to cut out a person from a photograph in photoshop 7 and I've never had to do this before and I know there must be a quick way of doing this?

I've attempted the magnetic lassoo but it's not very accurate and I'm led to believe that there are much better, quicker and easier ways to do this.

    Thanks for your help

I always create a path using point-to-point as you can adjust the points once the path is complete. You can convert the path to a selection.
You should feather it a little before cutting it out.

...or you could use quick mask, but basically there's no short easy way.

Corel Knockout is one of the best programs to cut out areas from an image.

It is now a plug-in for Photoshop and no longer a seperate stand alone program.

It also allows transparency when cutting transparent or semi-transparent objects.

it is excellent for cutting aound the head area - 'hair-cut'!

    Check Corel's website for details.

There is also Extensis Mask Pro which is also quite good.

    regards

    Dave
