i have a 17-85 canon lens that i fell does not do the 60D or 50D justice, has anyone had experience of the Sigma 17-70 2.8?
it seems to be well liked by the magazines.

I've had one for a few years and have found it very good while traveling and am very pleased with the results.
I have the non os version and it's been my workhorse lens for a few years,it's very sharp,no zoom creep and the AF has never caused me to miss anything.Only problem with it is that manual focusing is a bit jerky.
Good for casual macro too.
I have had both versions (OS&nonOS). Both of them gave good results, especially the OS version. I have only recently sold this lens only because of lack of use. I would recommend it.
I think the only problem can arise from Sigma's indifferent quality control which can allow the odd slightly substandard copy through.
However I have over time had several lenses and not had a problem so I think it is a very minor problem.
Thankyou all, i will go for it
Its my default lens and like it a lot.
